                            BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)

BDS bachelor of dental surgery is a (4+1) year undergraduate degree program.

It is a compulsory course for the students aspiring to work as dentists at government or private hospitals.

BDS mainly focuses on training and introducing the students to the dental sciences and surgeries. The 5-year program involves 4 years of classroom education and 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. 

With the rising dental issues BDS program come with a lot of career opportunities to students, who can work in government and private hospital, pharmaceutical companies etc.

It would be best if you choose a dental college with excellent patient flow. Never choose a college with a big campus and does not have patient flow. You will learn how to treat a patient if the college has excellent patient flow.

 

BDS Eligible Criteria.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to BDS are as follows.

v The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with 50% marks (40% in case of reserved category).

v The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subject in 10 + 2.

v The admissions are based on the NEET cut off, so the candidate must qualify NEET-UG examination.

v The candidate must appear for the counseling session held by the central and state authority.

v Generally there will be three round of counseling session held.

 

Counseling Process

The candidate must qualify for the NEET-UG entrance exam to join any dental College in India.

After the result the state authority and central authority will conduct separate counseling for filling up the seats.

All India quota and deemed university quota admission will be filled by MCC and the rest seat will be filed by respective state counseling board.

Generally there are 3 rounds of counseling and the major steps involved in the counseling processes are as follows.

v Online registration

v Document verification

v First round of counseling

v Choice filling, Choice locking, Counseling result

v Second round of counseling

v Choice filling, Choice locking, Counseling result

v MOP-UP Round

After the MOP-UP round the vacant seats will be given to the college management and is available for the students who have attended the counseling process.
