ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery)

ANM Nursing Course, or Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery, is a two-year nursing diploma course. After passing their class 12 exam with any stream, interested candidates can apply for an ANM diploma The ANM diploma is the most fundamental diploma course that can be pursued as a first step toward a career in nursing.

ANM holders are village-level female health worker in India who serves as the first point of contact between the community and health services.  ANMs are regarded as the bottom of the healthcare pyramid’s workers.

Students of ANM diploma programme can begin their careers in community health centers in both urban and rural areas.

ANM students learn about maternity care and how to help new mothers during pregnancy and after delivery. Candidates are also educated on various aspects of healthcare with the goal of improving the health of patients, families, and society as a whole.

ANM Eligibility

To be admitted to ANM course, one must meet certain eligibility requirements. The criteria may differ from one college to the next, but the general criteria listed below can be applied to all institutes.

v    Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level of education from a recognized educational board.

v    Candidates must have completed 10+2 any subject (Arts, Science & Commerce)

v    At the 10+2 level, a minimum aggregate score of 40% (35% for SC/ST candidates) is required.

v    The candidate must be 17 years old on or before December 31st of the year of taking admission.

v    The candidate’s maximum age should not be more than 35 years old.

 

ANM Admission Process

Aspirants seeking admission for the ANM course will be admitted based on their performance in the common entrance exams conducted by state authority and direct admission facilities are also available in most of the colleges.

v    The direct admission process is seen in most of the ANM colleges in India.

v    Here, candidates will be picked up based on the scores that they have acquired in the intermediate exams.

v    If their scores are better than the cut off marks, released by the college, they will be eligible to get permission for admission.

v    Also, there is merit-based admission in some of the colleges, which are done via conducting entrance exams.

 

GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery)

GNM stands for General Nursing and Midwifery which has huge scope in India.

The academic program of the GNM course is 3.5 years including internship.

 Nursing is a discipline that focuses on care, treatment or rehabilitation of patients. Nurses possess knowledge about the care of patient and medicines. They are trained to assist the doctors in supervised or independent setups.

The students from arts background are also eligible for the GNM course.

 GNM Eligibility

To be admitted to GNM course, one must meet certain eligibility requirements which are as follows.

v    10+2 with 40% marks in aggregate from any recognized board.

v    If you are from the arts stream then also you are eligible for GNM course.

v    In some college English should be compulsory subject at 12th standard

v    5% relaxation in total marks for SC/ST candidates.

v    Registered ANM.

v    10+2 with Vocational ANM or Health Care science.

v    Minimum 17 years to maximum 35 years of age.

 GNM Admission Process

The majority of GNM admissions are made through state-run entrance exams. Once a year, these entrance exams are held. Students who are eligible may take the tests, which they must pass in order to qualify.

B.Sc Nursing

B.Sc Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a 4-year undergraduate course in the field of medical science. Aspirants who have passed class 12 with biology are eligible to apply for B.Sc Nursing. 

As the course inculcates the art of nursing the sick and the wounded, its curriculum includes subjects like physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, nutrition, psychology, etc, all related to the human body. Therefore, B.Sc Nursing is centered around people and society, focusing on attaining, maintaining, and recovering optimal health.

B.Sc Nursing Eligibility  

A candidate seeking admission should have

v    10+2 with science subjects viz, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English.

v    Obtained at least 45% (Forty Five) percent of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination.

v    Relaxation of 5% in case of Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

v    10+2 vocational course with 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

v   The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission.

v   Candidate shall be medically fit.

 B.Sc Nursing Admission Process

BSc Nursing Admission is based on a state or national level entrance exam. Some colleges take direct admission based on 12th marks.

BSc Nursing Admission in AIIMS is done on the basis of the AIIMS BSc Nursing Entrance Exam.

Some of the most popular entrance exams conducted for BSc Nursing are AIIMS Bsc Nursing Entrance Exam, MNS Entrance Exam, JIPMER, BHU UET etc

Several states conduct counseling rounds after the NEET exam to offer BSc Nursing admission. NTA has revised the NEET Eligibility Criteria for BSc Nursing admission. The upper age limit to appear in NEET-UG has been scrapped.

P.B. B.Sc Nursing

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (PB-B.Sc.) is a two-year undergraduate programme designed to inculcate an in-depth understanding of advanced level nursing. Under this programme, aspirants brush up their learning to provide complete medical care to the patients.

 The students acquire both surgical and non-surgical nursing skills that prepare them for varied real-world clinical and hospital settings.

v    No candidate who is above 48 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission shall be eligible.

 P.B. B.Sc Nursing Admission Process

Admission to the Post Basic BSc Nursing course is done via both merit and entrance exam basis.

PB BSc Nursing Admission in top colleges takes place through Entrance exams. Colleges like AIIMS, CMC and PGIMER conduct their own entrance exams.

Most of the colleges take admission on merit basis.

M.Sc Nursing

M. Sc. v    Minimum one year of work experience after B. Sc (N).

v    Candidate shall be medically fit.

 M.Sc Nursing Admission Process

Some of the colleges in India offering Direct Admissions i.e., admissions are offered based on the merit obtained by students in B.sc Nursing or its equivalent from a recognized board.

Or through various entrance examinations such as AIIMS PG Exam, MET, DSAT, etc which are conducted by the institute or university and followed by the other rounds such as GD and PI rounds if any.
